Uploading Files to the BOM Line

BOM Line:

If a field is of the type 'File Location', you will have the ability to drag and drop or select files for cells in the BOM Line. The cells that are of this type will be apparent via their dotted borders with the centered plus icon.

Sending Files from CAD:

As well as the above, files can be pushed as custom properties inside of CAD assemblies. These push to the cloud for your organization and become readily available for download from the BOM line.

To do this:

1. In your CAD assembly, define a custom property with a name of your choosing of the type text, and add the local file's path (without quotation marks) as the value.
2. Synchronize the custom property.
3. Add it as an external property in Templates -> External Properties -> CAD System of choice
4. Go to the BOM template for your CAD system and select 'Create New Custom Field'.

5. Ensure the input type is 'File Location', and select your file path property as an external property.

   

6. Proceed to save the change.

Now that the field is tied to the local file, the assembly can be pushed. The file will now be visible as a hyperlink on the BOM line.

Supported File Types:

File properties support the following file formats:

Documents: PDF

CAD & 3D Models: DXF, DWF, DWG, STEP 

Images: PNG, JPG, JPEG

Maximum file size: 20 MB per file
