Every time a BOM is pushed to MaXXlink, MaXXlink will deduce whether each of its item are unique. If it is, it will appear as a new item in the 'Items' screen. It will be described with the fields defined in the items template and can have custom fields synchronized from the CAD BOM as well.  

As a best practice, items that have any properties added or changed are classed as different items, and items that are under different configurations are also different, even if they appear to be the same. 

Items under different item templates can still be in the same BOM as well.

Non-cad items can be added here to suit the unique needs of each BOM such as labour, powder coating, painting, and laser cutting. Cost can be added and filled in as a custom field for example, and custom thumbnails can be imported too.
